Speedy STEM came to be after numerous requests from Teachers. They were looking to engage pupils in STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) as part of their primary/secondary transition, and to also help those further up secondary school in making their subject choices.

Our programme follows a speed dating format, whereby pupils undertake a number of 30 minute challenges, introducing them to the fun aspects of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths. All challenges are hands-on and interactive, leaving pupils with an increased enthusiasm for those subjects.

Previous sessions include:

Hydrogen Fuel Cell Car racing

Robots rescue or robot football

Building the tallest or most secure structure

Lego challenge

The egg drop challenge

Building wind turbines

Giant Jenga

Sessions are run by our own BGH specialists, and also local PVG checked Business Volunteers. This allows pupils to gain an insight into STEM in the workplace, chat about what employers are looking for,  and also to practise their transferrable skills.

If you have your own ideas for a workshop, or you would like to book a Speedy STEM session for your Secondary pupils, then please get in touch!
